About Victor Imbimbo

Victor Imbimbo is owner and CEO of Caring Today, LLC, a leading information and support resource for the family caregiver community.

After receiving two degrees from Purdue University, his Bachelor of Science degree in biology (1975) and his Master’s degree in business administration (1976), Victor began his career at the General Mills Corporation, working in brand management.

In 1978, he joined Miller Brewing Company’s marketing department. During his seven-year tenure, he rose through the ranks and directed all new product initiatives, including the introduction of the “cold-filtered” beer segment that generated nearly $1 billion in revenue.

After leaving Miller Brewing Company in 1985, Victor began his career as an entrepreneur by founding The Hadley Group, a marketing communications company specializing in “response” and “transactional” marketing. Hadley clients included Anheuser Busch, Borden Foods, Burger King, Coca-Cola, Gallo Winery, Hershey Foods, KFC, MasterCard, Miller Brewing Company, Nike, NYNEX/(Verizon), NutraSweet, Schering Plough, Schick, Warner Lambert, and Wyeth Labs. In 1991, Hadley received the industry’s highest honor when it was named Agency of the Year by Advertising Age Magazine.

In 1994 Victor sold Hadley to Havas Worldwide and in 1997 went on to established Bedrock Inc., a consulting firm specializing in business-to-business digital communications solutions. Bedrock developed the first web-based sales-force assistance system, FieldGear, for a division of AOL and created HealthExchange, an online product, funded by venture capital, which allowed pharmaceutical companies to facilitate their clinical trial patient recruitment needs by targeting, educating, screening, and enlisting prospective participants online.

From there, Victor moved on to TBWA Worldwide, a unit of Omnicom Group, the world's largest advertising and marketing services holding company. While at the company, he became Executive Vice President for TBWA\Chiat\Day and President for North America of TBWA\World Health, directing consumer marketing communications programs for healthcare companies, primarily within the pharmaceutical industry, and building hands-on experience working with patients and family members navigating patient wellness and support issues surrounding health conditions including Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, Depression, Diabetes, Epilepsy, Hyperlipidemia, Hypertension and Pain Management.

The combination of Victor’s educational background, extensive work and study of human behavior, and curiosity about building effective heath care communications programs became the foundation for his interest in and devotion to supporting the health and well-being of family caregivers—a community of nearly 45,000,000 noble individuals with considerable day-to-day needs.

Is Multitasking Actually a Myth?

When you're a family caregiver, your list of to-dos probably feels endless: doctor appointments, meting out medications, prepping meals, shopping, scheduling home visits, not to mention caring for your own family, working, and, oh, trying to carve out a few minutes of peace and quiet... and that's just Monday. In order to tackle the exhaustive [...]

Get Up and Go for Brain Fitness

Last week, I was having dinner with several buddies. As usual when we get together, we had a great time catching up. We talked about everything you'd expect from a bunch of middle-age guys: jobs, golf games and lament for our struggling New York Yankees. Put aside your cheers for a second, though. Another topic [...]

Assisted Living or Assisted Existing? Help Make the Difference!

A few months ago, I received an email from an elderly woman who told me I was sitting in an ivory tower and the advice I had given her about an assisted-living facility wasn't a help. I just didn't have a clue. My response was, "Mom give me a break!" I spend a lot of [...]

Speak Up and Be Counted!

As a family caregiver, you do all you can to make certain your loved one receives the best care possible. To this point, no role is more important than that of someone's personal "health advocate." I've been asked many times: What does being a health advocate really mean? By definition, an "advocate" is a person [...]

The Weight of the ‘Wait’

There's one certainty for a family caregiver. At some point, you can count on having to wait for information that might have significant consequences to a love one's health. It can be a blood test, PET scan, MRI, biopsy and even the not-so-routine doctor's follow-up exam. There's an array of things it could be. But [...]

You Can’t Choose Your Family, But…

Yesterday, I received a call from a lovely woman named May* living in Birmingham, Ala. May initially called my office to find out where our magazines were available near her home. However, we started to chat about being a family caregiver. And, after a few minutes, she asked if I would give her some advice. [...]
